Das Podium für Animation am diesjährigen Jugendfilmfestival war eigentlich zuerst eine Lobby, eine Ausstellung und ein Vortragspodium und das in dieser Reihenfolge und doch gleichzeitig. Zuerst wurde auf den Sofas gechilled und danach konnte man ausgesuchte und dazwischen schweizersiche Animationsfilme anschauen. Anschliessend kamen vor dem Chill- und Ausstellungspublikum die Macher mit ihren eigenen Werken zu Wort. Sie erklärten ihre Disziplinen und mit welchen Tools man einen Einstieg findet.
Den Anfang machte (wie historisch) der StopMotion Film in diesem Fall mit Legos: der Brickfilm (Kamera & einfaches Animationsprogramm). Danach folgte das Thema 3D-Animation. Anhand seiner Maturaarbeit zeigte ein weiterer Vortragender wie man Objekte in 3D erstellt und anschliessend animiert (Cinema4D & Blender). Den Bereich Machinimas eröffnete Tom, indem er kurz in die Geschichte der Filmart zeigte, die bestehende Technik benutz in diesem Fall die GameEngines um eine eigene Geschichte zu erzählen. Daraufhin wurde vorgeführt, wie man GTA benutzt, um eigene Szenen zu stellen und diese zum Leben erweckt. Dabei bietet eine Spiel wie Grand Thieft Audio eine wahre Staffelei an Personen und Orten (GTA3, Fraps, Cut-Programm). Statt GTA verwendete der nächste ebenfalls junge Referent Sims um Welten zu erstellen und Filme aufzunehmen (Sims). Am Ende kam nochmals der der StopMotion zum Zug, indem gezeigt wurde, wie man einen einfachen gezeichneten StopMotion-Film mittels Quicktime zu einem Film umwandelt.
Die Vorträge der meist jungen Filmer – die meisten waren von 16-26 Jahre alt – waren enthusiastisch und sehr professionell. Es lässt sich hoffen, dass diesen Jugendlichen den Spass an der Sache nicht verloren geht und der eine oder andere des ebenfalls mehrheitlich jungen Publikums sich anstecken lässt.
